This Privacy Policy describes how Axiolo LLC (“Axiolo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use OctoPing (the “Service”), a website and uptime monitoring product. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
When you create an account, we collect your email address and any profile details you choose to add (such as your name). When you configure monitoring, we store the URLs, content selectors, notification destinations (email, Slack, webhooks, Discord), and other settings you enter.
1.2 Waitlist
OctoPing is currently in early access. Joining the waitlist collects your first name, last name, and email address (or, if you use the Google button, the equivalent verified fields from your Google account). We use this information only to send you one email when registrations open. We do not add it to a newsletter or any other marketing list, and we do not share it outside Axiolo.
1.3 Information from Google Sign-In
If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic Google profile information through the standard OAuth scopes openid, profile, and email. This includes your email address, name, and profile picture URL. We do not request access to your Google Drive, Calendar, Contacts, Gmail, or any other Google service data, and we do not store your Google password. Google's own handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
OctoPing's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
1.4 Monitoring data
To deliver the Service, we collect and store the results of the checks you configure: HTTP status codes, response times, SSL certificate metadata, DNS records, content snapshots, and the regions from which checks were performed. We do not crawl or store content from websites you have not explicitly configured for monitoring.
1.5 Usage and device data
When you use the Service, we automatically collect technical information such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, and timestamps. We use this for security, abuse prevention, and to operate and improve the Service.
1.6 Cookies
We use first-party cookies to keep you signed in (authentication tokens) and to remember your selected workspace. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and authenticate your account, including via Google Sign-In.
- To run the monitoring checks you configure and surface the results to you and your workspace members.
- To send the notifications you have explicitly enabled (downtime alerts, recovery notices, content-change alerts, monthly summary emails, and similar Service-related messages).
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations.
- To improve the Service and develop new features.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use Google user data for advertising or to train generalized AI/ML models.
3. How We Share Information
We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Other workspace members. Information you submit to a workspace (configurations, monitoring results, notification settings) is visible to other members of that workspace.
- Service providers. We use vetted infrastructure and tooling providers such as cloud hosting, transactional email delivery, and error monitoring. They process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
- Notification destinations you choose. If you configure a webhook, Slack, or Discord destination, the relevant monitoring data is sent to that destination.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Axiolo, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If Axiolo is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.
4. Data Retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active. Monitoring data (check history, content snapshots, notification logs) is retained for the period required to operate the Service and provide historical reporting. When you delete a website, its associated monitoring data is removed. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
5. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these rights directly from your account settings, or by contacting us at info@axiolo.com.
You can also revoke Google's access to OctoPing at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest where supported by our infrastructure, access controls, and routine security review. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. International Data Transfers
The Service is operated from the United States and uses monitoring probes located in multiple regions (including the United States, Europe, and Asia). By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to and processing in these locations.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the “Effective date” above and, where appropriate, by additional notice (such as an email or in-product banner). Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
